Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

St Helens Foodbank is looking for a Drivers Mate!

Food banks provide three-day emergency food parcels for people in crisis, working in partnership with organizations across the community?
Drivers and drivers mates play a fundamental role in the running of the food bank, collecting food donations from a variety of locations across the local area as well as distributing the sorted donations from the warehouse to the local food bank centres.

As a Driver’s Mate, you’ll be assisting our warehouse & delivery team in making collections of food from local collection points such as supermarkets around the local area and delivering the donations received to our 5 foodbank hubs across St. Helens. We are looking for someone who is available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am – 1pm, although we can only guarantee 1 shift per week. We are looking for this role to start as soon as possible and will be ongoing.

PPE and Hi Vis will be provided.

What you will be doing:
Working alongside the Driver, as a Drivers Mate helping with navigation, scheduling and moving crates
Collecting food donations
Delivering food donations to the warehouse.
Transporting sorted food from the warehouse to the local food bank centre
Carrying heavy boxes of canned foods.
Regular loading and unloading of vehicles
Liaising with staff and volunteers.

General Volunteering Duties
Work within health & safety guidelines and Trussell Trust policies and procedures
Embody Trussell Trust and St Helens Foodbank values and represent the charity as required
